Exposed wood beams, two story windows, and a huge fireplace create an atmosphere that is cozy, relaxed and fun. The Landing's unique timber framed structure is constructed from 100 year old recycled timbers reclaimed from The Welland Canal locks in Ontario, Canada. The Landing seats 100 guests inside and offers additional outdoor patio seating. The Landing can also accommodate small parties.

The massive timbers used in the construction of Steamboat Landing and visible inside and outside of the restaurant, were salvaged from lock gates on The Welland Canal in Ontario, Canada. Originally built in 1829 to connect Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, the waterway brings ocean going and freshwater vessels over the Niagara Escarpment.

The Welland Canal has been re-built 3 times over the course of history, and during improvements made in 1927, the huge 37' x 42' x 48' Douglas Fir timbers were installed as part of the un-watering gates in Lock #8, one of the longest canal locks in the world. The present canal was opened in 1932, and in 1959 became part of the 2,350 mile St. Lawrence Seaway. Further improvements were made and the timbers were replaced by steel and concrete.

Weighing in at over 20,000 pounds each, the timbers were re-conditioned and joined into the magnificent timber frame structure that is Steamboat Landing.
